Our Program

The High School Youth Ministry at St. John Neumann is based on a comprehensive model that seeks to first connect with individual youth "where they are at," nurture their growth in faith, and send them forth in ministry to their peers, those in need in our community, and the wider world. There are three "stages" to our ministry to help youth begin to take a look at what faith, a relationship with God, and being Catholic, is all about. As youth participate in the programs offered within these stages, they are exposed to the individuals and information that will help them make the transition into an adult-level faith commitment.

Confirmation

Our Confirmation preparation is a two-year process. Freshmen, or first-year students, as well as Sophomores, or second year students, enroll in small groups which meet 13 times throughout the school year on Sunday evenings at St. John Neumann church.  They also meet together in a large group on the same evening.  An additional requirement includes attendance at an overnight Confirmation retreat.  The requirements are the same for public school students as well as students who attend area Catholic high schools. Here are the forms for 2009 confirmation students:

Student Ministry Team

The Student Ministry Team (SMT) began in 1984, with a small group of students who were pursuing a deeper commitment to Christ and an avenue of living it out. Entering the 22nd year since its inception, this ministry continues to be a source of life to those on the team as well as those who are served by this ministry.

Being a PEER MINISTER is a weighty responsibility in time and challenge. It carries the same dedication and responsibilities of a varsity athletic team. Consistent attendance, commitment to prayer, and the willingness to serve are essential. Your involvement will have dramatic effects upon your lifestyle.

In return for the hard work, a SMT member can expect fun, spiritual challenges, sense of fulfillment, the joy of effecting others faith growth and the support of the other members that is needed to continue serving the team throughout the year.

Check out the fun that the SMT members had at the Camp Dickson Retreat this August.

Good Samaritans
